A GASTROMONIC EVENT SPONSORED BY PRECIOSA

The World Gourmet Summit (WGS) was a gastronomic affair that exemplified the relationships

between fine cuisine, great wines, and unique dining.  For three weeks in April 2006, twenty three events were hosted

by 7 master chefs, 2 iconic chefs, & 6 prestigious winemakers, all congregated in Singapore to showcase their skills and specialties

     at the WGS.

TROPHY CONCEPT

The essentials of gourmet cuisine are in the proportions of the ingredients, how they are mixed, and how they are prepared.  When these variables harmoniously come together, they culminate in the gourmand experience. Nothing is missing, the food the perfect.  This culmination of magical ingredients and exact proportions is embodied in the precisely faceted crystal ball segment of the trophy.

Presentation in gourmet dining also plays a crucial role in how the visual senses appreciate the food. The metaphor of dining is extended to the serving spoons on either side of the crystal.   The chefs’ mastery in creating fine cuisine is only limited by what their hands create - the serving spoons can also be interpreted as two hands.  Thus, the crystal ball is like a magical morsel of perfect food, created by the hands of the master chefs, and served perfectly to the discerning gourmand.

THE ICONIC CHEF

The three-Michelin starred Iconic chef Santi Santamaria held a dinner function in his own right.  His mantra: “the art of cuisine preparations can be compared to poetry; knowing how to distinguish the nuances of the ingredients and using them to perfectly complement each other”.  Diners indulged in his exquisite cuisine paired with the fine French wines.
