Lighting fixtures by Czech masters embellish this futuristic hotel complex above the Formula 1 racetrack

This brand new hotel situated on the man-made Yas Island in Abu Dhabi consists of two buildings that are connected by a fluid glazed bridge spanning the Formula 1 racetrack. The hotel’s characteristic feature is its peripheral cladding formed from LED panels that enable the building’s attractive colorful illumination. Imposing lighting fixtures by PRECIOSA illuminate interiors throughout this extraordinary hotel.

The design project is based on three basic levels: the first level features lighting ceiling sculptures created from chandelier trimmings and glass rods with inserted optical fibers. These modern light sources spread light throughout the length of the rods. As part of this configuration, all these components form fanciful shapes. To create our lighting fixtures, we also used machine-cut and mouth-blown beads.

The second level is characterized by both glass and metal components loosely suspended to form imaginative lighting configurations. Their simple shapes, on the one hand, bring out the effect of sharply contrasting colors in a wide range of shades, and on the other, they accentuate ever popular nature-inspired motifs, such as leaves, tiny butterflies and the like.

And finally, the third group of lighting elements follows the prevailing trend towards using intersecting geometric shapes. Thus, austere geometry pervades the fixtures, characterized by both broken lines of crystal blocks and round lines of hanging lanterns.
