There, where the waves of the Atlantic and the Indian oceans crash against each other, in the historical heart of the Port of Cape Town, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is located, a luxurious oasis of relaxation, active leisure and various celebrations.
Through our lighting objects adorning the Main Lobby and the Nobu Restaurant, we have also become part of this fascinating cultural and tourist attraction.
The Main Lobby – Vista Bar
The most impressive feature of its interior is a monumental sculpture placed above the bar in the center of the lobby’s main social space. The sculpture is created from hand shaped glass components forming a cluster, evoking an association with nature’s organic forms.
This lighting sculpture was designed with a wonderful feeling for dramatic atmosphere, thus creating a vivid impression of motion, fluency and seeming disharmony. But actually, all the glass elements are balanced delicately, which is emphasized by their spiral configuration. By using organic shapes derived from nature and arranging them into exactly defined spirals, the designer has created a symbiosis that transforms diverse elements into the final impression of beauty.
The Nobu Restaurant
Atypical lighting sculptures arranged on pillars, which mark off the bar’s space, are real objects d’art that excite the visual imagination, invoking luminous visions. Light metal contours of the sculptures’ stylized shapes mark the imaginary boundaries within which glass components are irregularly arranged, as if levitating in space. Indirect illumination conjures up a subtle interplay of spectacular sceneries and their reflections, with glass playing the role of the main decorative element. The sculptures’ shapes are designed together with light penetrating their glass substance to create deep and mysterious spaces that represent the essence of architecture, captivating human imagination.
