Dorothy´s Giant Slippers with Preciosa Crystals
Czech crystals show up at various special and non-traditional projects all over the world ever more often. One of these events is the Christmas decoration of the famous department store Harrods in London which celebrates, together with Warner Brothers Studio, the 70th anniversary of the legendary film “Wizard of Oz”.
One of the fantastic Christmas decorations at Harrods is a huge pair of Dorothy’s iconic ruby slippers lying directly in front of the department store on the pavement. The four metres high slippers are on display from 1st till 21st December 2009. They shine and glitter day and night with more than 45 000 crystals which Preciosa donated to this project.
The Christmas decoration at Harrods is not only a celebration of the 70th anniversary of “Wizard of Oz”. Christmas time is the time of giving presents and fulfilling wishes, making children eyes alighted with happiness. It is also a time when we think more on those who need our help. Preciosa has connected its name and brilliant Czech crystals with the famous department store Harrods and the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. The goal of all Christmas events at Harrods is to raise 300.000 GBP to fund three bedrooms in the kidney unit in the Great Ormond Street Hospital.
